CEAR > Grant ProgramsIn partnership with from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative John Adams Innovation Institute, we have programs to support high-potential apoptosis-related research at difficult to fund stages of development. If your company would like to learn more about getting involved in these programs, please contact Dr. Paul Friedmann by telephone at 413.794.0653 or by email. Pilot Grants CEAR Pilot Grants Program provides funding for multidisciplinary teams of researchers for interdisciplinary apoptosis–related projects to promote:
UMass Amherst, Baystate, and PVLSI life scientists, physical scientists, engineers and clinicians who are members of CEAR are invited to submit proposals outlining unique interdisciplinary projects. The goal is to stimulate research at the boundaries between disparate fields to develop new insights and applications. In addition to diagnostics or therapeutics directly focused on measuring or controlling apoptosis, biomedical applications in which apoptosis plays a significant role may include emerging technologies such as: biochemical assays, genetic screens, tissue engineering, cell therapy, stem cells, and cell transplantation. Please contact Sallie Smith Schneider, Ph.D. for more information. Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Grants CEAR's Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowship Program encourages scientists, engineers, and physicians to develop novel research programs that span traditionally separate disciplines. UMass Amherst, Baystate, and PVLSI life scientists, physical scientists, engineers and clinicians who are members of CEAR are invited to submit proposals outlining unique interdisciplinary projects that require the efforts of a full-time postdoctoral fellow/medical resident. Proposals will be evaluated by several criteria, including: the strengths of the principal investigators, the project's potential to exploit fundamentally new research niches, and its potential to develop both external funding and new intellectual property. Funded fellows can receive a second and possibly a third year of support contingent upon: 1) research success; 2) submission of an application(s) for external support (federal, foundation or industry) by the principal investigators; and/or 3) patent application(s). Please contact Sallie Smith Schneider, Ph.D. for more information. John Adams Biomedical Investigators These unique awards provide supplementary support for selected new UMass Amherst and the Baystate Medical Center life scientists, physical scientists, engineers and clinician with CEAR-related research interests. The overall purpose of this program is to develop and extend the apoptosis research community. Department heads from UMass Amherst and Baystate are invited to suggest candidates.
